AUN-HPN Secretariat Participates in Consultation on Implementing the Framework for Human Rights-Based Universities (HRBU Framework) in ASEAN Higher Education

On 14 September 2026, the ASEAN University Network - Human Rights Education (AUN-HRE), in collaboration with the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Mahidol University, and the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, University of Oslo, Norway, organized the consultation “Consultation on Implementing the Framework for Human Rights-Based Universities (HRBU Framework) in ASEAN Higher Education.” The event provided a platform for exchanging perspectives and discussing approaches to applying the Framework for Human Rights-Based Universities within higher education institutions across the ASEAN region. The consultation was held at Centara Life Hotel Bangkok Phra Nakhon.
 
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Thunwadee Suksaroj, Executive Director of AUN-HPN Secretariat assigned Associate Professor Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool, Executive Deputy Director of AUN-HPN Secretariat, to represent the AUN-HPN Secretariat in the panel discussion “Building a Unified Ecosystem for Rights-based Higher Education,” focusing on Gender Inclusion and Health.
 
AUN-HRE is one of the thematic networks under the ASEAN University Network (AUN), dedicated to advancing human rights and freedom within higher education institutions. Meanwhile, AUN-HPN plays an important role in promoting health and well-being in universities. The participation of the AUN-HPN Secretariat in this consultation reflects its commitment to supporting the development of a higher education ecosystem that promotes health and well-being and advances equality based on human rights principles. It also highlights the importance of integrated collaboration among thematic networks in enhancing the quality of life of students and personnel across higher education institutions in the ASEAN region.
